Principal's Message

Hello Cherrylee parents, students, and community members,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!

My name is Rene Quon, and I have the honor of serving as principal of Cherrylee School. Words cannot express how excited I am to get to know each of the students, parents, and staff members at Cherrylee.  I am thrilled to have the opportunity to offer my knowledge and experience in any way I can in order to best prepare our young ones for success in school, leadership, college, and career.

This is my 7th year as a school principal, having previously led Oscar Romero Charter School and Wallis Annenberg High School, both located in Los Angeles, CA. I have also served as a math teacher for 10 total years at Locke High School in Watts, CA, and Castlemont High School in Oakland, CA. I earned a doctorate in education from USC, a masters from the Principal Leadership Institute at UCLA, as well as a masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Alliant International University.  Although I earned my undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering at UCLA, I was inspired to become an educator so that I could spend my career fighting for educational equity for all students, and finding ways to make the biggest impact towards a brighter future for the youth of Los Angeles.

I am humbled to join such a special and outstanding school as Cherrylee.  In accordance with one of the 7 Habits, "Seek first to understand before being understood", my first order of business is to learn as much as I can from the Cherrylee community.  Therefore, I plan to create spaces to connect with parents, students, and staff in order to provide opportunities to listen to the voices of the community. I want to understand how we can continue excelling in the many ways that Cherrylee is already successful (including the implementation of The Leader In Me), as well as understand what areas of growth we can work on as a school.

If you have any questions you can contact the school office by phone (626) 575-2326 or visit in person. Looking forward to a great school year!

Sincerely,
Rene Quon
Cherrylee Principal
